FAQs

  • What is "Calcutta"?

    • Calcutta is a live auction in which every team in the tournament is put up for bid. You are welcome to bid and buy any team in the field. If someone else buys your team, that winning bidder must offer you 50% of your team. Vice versa, if you buy someone else's team, you must offer that team the opportunity to buy 50% of it. Example: your team is bought for $800. The winning bidder must offer you 50% ownership of your team for $400.
  • How does Calcutta pay out?

    • If you own the winning team of a flight, you get 65% fo that flight's Calcutta for each day. If you own the runner up from the flight you get the remaining 35% of that flight's Calcutta for each day. Example: The 6 Teams is flight 1 combine for a total of $2,000.
  • Is cash required the night of the Calcutta?

    • Yes, you will pay for your team or any team you bought the night of the Calcutta.
  • What is the "Horse Race"?

    • The Horse Race is a playoff between the flight winners to crown a grand champion. The Horse Race takes place once all flight play has been completed. Each flight winner will represent their flight in the Horse Race.
  • Is the Horse Race an additional cost to the Member-Guest?

    • Yes. The money in the Horse Race all comes back to the teams that entered. The club does not take a percentage like in the Calcutta.
  • Can I win money in the "Horse Race"?

    • Yes, each team will put in $50 for the Horse Race, total puse of $1,800 assuming all teams enter. If you win your flight, bought in the Horse Race, and become grand champoin you win 50% of the pot. The remaining 50% of the pot will be split amongst the teams in your flight that bought into the Horse Race. IF YOU DO NOT BUY INTO THE HORSE RACE AND WIN THE HORSE RACE, THE POT WILL BE SPLIT AMONGST THOSE IN YOUR FLIGHT THAT BOUGHT INTO THE HORSE RACE.
  • What is the format of the Horse Race?

    • The Horse Race will take place on 1, 7, 8 and 9. Championship Flight will play the Blue tees, flights 2 & 3 will play the White tees and flights 4 & 5 will play the Gold tees (whether seniors or ladies). The Horse Race will be handicapped like the tournament in the following fashion. The 5th and 4th flight will get a shot on every hole they make it to. The 3rd and 2nd flight will get a shot on #7, #8 and #9. The 1st flight will get a shot on #8 and #9. The Championship Flight will get no shots in the Horse Race. Play of the ball is TRUE Alternate Shot. Two teams will be eliminiated on the first hole of the Horse Race. For ties on the hole, a chip off will ensue for ties whereas the total distance of the team will determine the winner of the chip off. Winning team advances. Two more teams will be eliminated on #7 within the same format for ties. #8 will feature 3 teams and one will be eliminated (same format) leaving 2 teams to play number 9 for the championship. In the event of a tie on #9, we will return to play #9 again as many times as it takes to crown the ultimate champion.
  • Should my spouse come for the Horse Race?

    • Absolutely. The bar will remain open until the conclusion of play and a beverage cart will be available. Following the horse race as spectators is encouraged.
